A new partner organization - GENOS - is joining WORMVACS2.0. Project coordinator Prof Dr Cornelis Hokke and GENOS’ principal investigator Dr Maja Pučić Baković explain what the new collaboration will entail and how it contributes to the project’s goals.

30 January marks World Neglected Tropical Diseases Day, an occasion to highlight diseases that, while they harm public health in considerable ways, are often not prioritised regarding research and other actions to limit their effects. On 28 and 29 October, WORMVACS2.0 partners met in Berlin for an annual meeting. With most partners from four continents joining in person and a few online, the hybrid meeting was full of lively, forward-looking discussions on the next steps in building knowledge on helminth vaccine development.
The WORMVACS2.0 consortium met at the Leiden University Medical Centre on 24&25 October 2023 for its kick-off meeting. The project is funded by Horizon Europe and brings together partners from research and medical centres, academia and industry to respond to the urgent need to develop effective vaccines to support control and elimination of schistosome and hookworm infections.
